Tax Deduction on Salary is made U/s 192.

Please refer Section 10 for Exemptions. You have to go through various sub-sections and clauses of Section 10 to ascertain, whether an assessee is entitled for the particular exemption.
In case of Housing loan taken Interest U/s 24 is deductible.

For Deductions like LIP, Mediclaim and other Savings related investments,you may go through Chapter VIA, more particularly refr Section 80C,80CCF, 80D, 80G etc.
