20 February 2013 Which date to consider as date of transfer for purpose of calculation of capital gains?

a) Registration date
or
b) Date of handover of possession?

20 February 2013 If the registered sale deed is having a mention of possession date, then possession date may prevail.

Some times documents are registered after giving possession of the property through possession letter.

The property is deemed to be transferred on the date of possession by the vendor to the purchaser.
