I have two questions . I would be very thankful if you can clear my doubts .

1. I am thinking of importing a single tennis racquet from USA or China for my personal use. Is customs duty charged on import of such products for personal use ? If yes , Then how much ? Price of racquet is 200 $

2. I also want to know the customs duty charged for importing radio controlled cars . Eg, HPI SAVAGE . price around 400 $

07 April 2011 IF YOU WANT TO IMPORT FOR PERSONAL USE NOT FOR BUSINESS, PARA 2.8 (III) OF HAND BOOK OF PROCEDURE VOL1 YOU HAVE NOT REQUIREED ANY iec code.

and if you provide the RITC HS CODE OF THE SAID IMPORTED ITEM PROMPT REPLY DUTY .

07 April 2011 It is given "Exempted from obtaining IEC number " . Frnakly I have no idea what that means . I just want to know if I will be charged customs or not . Please reply in a yes or no . Thanks

08 April 2011 IEC CODE MEANS IMPORT EXPORT CODE,IS MANDATORY FOR IMPORT EXPORT IN INDIA

AND THE ABOVE SAID CATEGORY IS EXEMPT IF YOU IMPORT FOR PERSONAL USE .

ON THE OTHER HAND YOU ELIGIBLE FOR PAID THE CUSTOM DUTY.
