Clarification regarding medical insurance

16 March 2012 Hi,

Out of my total Salary, i am getting Rs. 15,000.00 as Medical Allowance which is a component of Gross Salary. I do not have any medical insurance policy and not paying amount as medical insurance premium. Can i claim deduction for Rs. 15,000.00 which i received as Medical allowance from the employer ?

Kindly clarify. Thanks in advance

16 March 2012 medical allowance is not exempt. medical insurance can not be claimed against medical allowance.
