Clarification regarding books and syllabus

12 November 2013 Hi,I will write my IPCC exam in May 2014.I have institute's study material of 2013 and I also have some other help books published in 2012.Is there any changes for 2014 exam.If any,how can I update that.Should I go for 1 group or both groups?Can I appear for second group first? Is company law 2013 applicable for 2014 exams(may/Nov). thanks

13 November 2013 1. Yes there will be changes in most of the subject. So keep a watch on supplementary study material issued by ICAI and the study material changes made (ICAI upload the files on its website)

2. Focus on all the subjects. Updates/amendments can be covered later on once you are familiar with the concepts

3. Appear for both the groups together. it helps in inter-group set-off as well as in getting ranks (allowed only if both the groups are cleared togther)

4. It is possible that companies act may be made applicable for May 14. For Nov 14 it is more or less sure that it would apply. Wait for ICAI notification for that. Should be out somewhere in January 14.

13 November 2013 You can appear any group you want there is no restriction in that,however clearing 1st group 1st will be beneficial as your articleship will start thereafter...

Still there is time you can appear in both groups,
If you are not confident enough then you can give any grp in which u are confident...
