09 November 2011 Dear Sir,

I am staying in non-metro city, getting HRA Rs 12,000 and actual payment of rent is Rs 5000. I am getting a tax free HRA claim only Rs 1500. My Basic+DA is Rs 35000(Actual Rent Paid Rs 5000 less 10% of salary Rs 3500)is it correct? Can i claim deduction of Rs 5000 in HRA

09 November 2011 In a given case you can not claim HRA @ Rs.5000.00... the claim of Rs.1500.00 is correct..
