Claim for hra exemption

06 February 2013 If a person is living with his family in a Govt. accomodation allotted to his father, As per my understanding he cannot claim HRA for such accomodation by showing rent paid to his father.Is there any wayout ?

06 February 2013 I think for just claiming the HRA benefit , my suggestion to take other home on rental
basis by the Son will disturb the happy joint family and may not be practicable. Unluckily, the only way out available to avail the HRA benefit is to take a house on rent.
