13 January 2010 Please tell me, can i take service tax credit on any type of service for which i have paid Gross amount(including service tax) to service provider?Is this criteria applicable for all like individuals, partnership concern, company etc.? Or if there are specified services on which i can claim service tax credit, then please provide me the list of it.

14 January 2010 There is no specific criteria. Payment made to any entity whther company or a firm, if it include service tax and service tax reg no is appearing on the bill, then u can definately take credit of the same on actual payment

Critereon:
- input services used for provding a taxable services or used in relation to manufacture or clearacen of final produict
- input services used for set up modernisation..
- inputs services used for business
Therefore most services other than those which have no nexus to business ( personal services) would be eligible
