23 February 2018 1). Whether indexation of buy price is allowed for both LTCG on shares and STCG on shares?
2. Can you send an Excel format calculator for calculation of LTCG and STCG on shares?

24 February 2018 indexation is not allowed for listed shares. For unlisted shares, indexation is allowed for LTCG. No indexation for STCG.

26 February 2018 I observed ICICIDirect using indexation in the statement for LTCG. Anyhow, they are not the Tax Authority!

26 February 2018 you just need to follow the simple principle on taxation of LTCG on listed equity. tax is 10% of the absolute gain.
