Capital Gain on Market Linked Debentures

28 November 2023 I had invested X amount in MLD in August 22, the maturity of the same was November 23. Total Period of holding 15 Months approx. Now on maturity the proceeds are credited to my bank account.

I want to know, how the gain will be taxed. Will it be taxed @ 10% as the same is purchased before 31st March 23. or at some other rate.

20 January 2024 From 1st April 2023, as per the changes brought in the Union Budget 2023, any capital gains on MLDs on sale, maturity or redemption will be treated as short term capital gain, irrespective of the holding period and listing status, and hence will be taxed as per the investors tax slab.

02 March 2024 Thank you for the reply. But what will be the scenario if the same was purchased before 01.04.2023 & redeemed/matured after 01.04.2023
