Whether indexation can be done from theprevious owner in case of assets acquired under exempted transfer.

Benefit of indexation is not permitted. If there is exempt transfer then only cost of aquisition will be the cost of asset. Indexation will be done from the year of that transfer.

In case asset acquired from exempted transfer you cannot claim indexation.
