Can we claim refund of tds ?

26 September 2015 Hi,
My mother-in-law won a gold biscuit at a contest in Pune. We paid approx Rs.80k and received a TDS certificate of the same amount from the organizers.
She has 'zero' income and has never filed IT returns, Can we file an IT return and claim refund of the TDS amount?

26 September 2015 yes, you can very well do that. Create the log in on e portal site of income tax department
incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

if you are able to link Aadhar card to this, you might get the refund with a month.
