Can retired govt. served be director of a company?

Hello,
I want to register by company as pvt. ltd. As I am working in a MNC, so I can't be director of my firm. So, I want to appoint my father, who is a retired govt. servent and receiving pension, as director. Is it legally possible?

well most probably yes. Service rules normally dont prohibit such engagements. However, just check for whether or not it requires prior intimation or approval of the sanctioning authority. in any case it should not be a problem
