Can a woman become karta of a huf

11 March 2013 Following the amendment to the Hindu Succession Act in 2005, daughters can become coparceners of a HUF and can remain coparceners even after their marriage.

If a HUF has only a male Karta (father) and only married daughters as coparceners (no sons), after the death or incapacitation of the Karta, can the eldest daughter become the Karta of the HUF ? Can anyone cite any case law or other judgment that answers this question ?

12 March 2013 No, female members can not become Karta of HUF. If any Male coparecener is minor than only female can become Karta till he becomes Major.
