CA in Practice in Business

This query is : Resolved

10 September 2025 If husband wants to start business in wife's name who is practicing CA, where she has to apply to get the permission from ICAI, as CA is not involved in business only her name will be used. Please suggest

10 September 2025 Yes. A Chartered Accountant (CA) in practice who wishes to have a business started in her name—even if she is not actively involved—must seek prior permission from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) under Regulation 190A of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988. This is mandatory even when the CA's name is being used and she does not participate in the business day-to-day.
Permission is often granted if the CA is a sleeping partner, or if the business interest is acquired through inheritance and there is no active role.

10 September 2025 Thank you for the suggestion sir.
Where she can apply to get the permission or where she can mail to get the permission?

10 September 2025 The application must be made via the ICAI Self Service Portal (SSP) at www.icai.org, using the login credentials of the member.
For other business or occupation, use the appropriate prescribed form, typically available on ICAI's website or via the SSP Portal.
