Can a CA with full time practice having his own firm(Proprietorship) practice act as a DSC agent for somebody like TCS or any other Company? Or is this prohibited?

18 July 2024 Yes, a Chartered Accountant (CA) in full-time practice can act as a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) reseller or agent for companies like TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) or other certifying authorities. There is no prohibition under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 or any regulations by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) that restrict a CA from engaging in activities related to DSC issuance or distribution.

However, it's important for the CA to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to DSCs, including those stipulated by the certifying authorities and applicable laws in India. This may include obtaining necessary authorizations or certifications from certifying authorities and adhering to their operational guidelines.
