whether bank balance confirmation letter is necessary for statutory auditor at the time of making balance sheet.

Balance as per Bank Statement will also be sufficient. Balance confirmation letter from bank is not mandatory.

balance confirmation is not necessary but auditor demand for future equerry by income tax deptt. due to some bank not issue certificate of 2-3 year old balance.
