I mean to say that I am a practicing Chartered Accountant and I have got an opportunity to do statutory audit of a listed company...can I do its audit and sign the audit report of that listed company...

Yes. There is an additional requirement. Before accepting the audits of any public listed company, you need to get done the peer review of your firm from ICAI. APply to ICAI for peer review of your firm. After the peer review, you an accept the assignment.
