10 February 2010 Sir what are the chances of GST being applicable in India w.e.f. 1/4/2010 as the progress towards the applicability seems very very slow

10 February 2010 The Chances of GST being introduced w.e.f 01-04-2010 is very remote. since till date no decision is yet taken on the GST rate, thresholds, exmptions etc. Moreover, in the last meeting of State finance ministers with Union finance minister which was held on 7 and 8th Jan 2010, no decision is taken with respect to the same. However, the Asim Das Gupta has stated that the Union finance minister is pre-occupied with Budget and hence they will be meeting and finalisng date after budget only.
