Applicability of service tax on electricty billed

28 May 2012 Dear Sir,

We have taken 5 units on lease from Safal market, Hoskote. in addition to monthly rent , they are charging maintenance Charges as per agreed terms and electricty charges based on submeters provided, Safal Market is charging service tax on electricty, Is this applicable.

Request you to clarify on the same.

28 May 2012 on electricity service tax is not applicable only if he is generating and transmitting the electricity

in your case i think he collecting electricty charge on proprotinate basis of the bill, and he is acting are pure agent then also service tax is not applicable
