For filling of annual return to Registrar of companies you do not require any books of accounts. If you are not getting the information then download the last year annual return from the MCA site and ask the required information like Date of AGM, any change in shareholding pattern etc which are very few. I think it will help you.

what about requirement of filing Form 23AC and Form 23ACA we need financials, director report and audit reports right
