11 July 2010 My Friend filed his ITR online for A.Y 2009-10 and send a signed hard copy to the required address by ordinary post. Now he want to confirm that his return is duly filed or not, as he did not recd any mail from deptt. Or ignore the mail by mistake.

11 July 2010 Login to his account in which there will be an option known as "My Account", click on " E-filing Processing status" and select the required year, u will get the confirmation whether his/her return is accepted or not.

11 July 2010 Login to the e filing site with your pan and password.
Go to the "My Account " tab (refer A in the picture)
In drop down menu under My account Tab click " e- filing processing status"(refer B in the picture)
In next screen (refer C in the picture) fill you ITR-V acknowledgement Number and Select your assessment year.
You will get status of your return/ITR-V processing status in next screen.
Further Income tax department clarified that copy of ITR-V sent by them to CPC Bangalore will be scanned after stamping receipt number and date of receipt and the same shall be made available to taxpayers on request through email shortly. Please await further information on procedure for the same.
