21 August 2012 We are claiming abatement - Municipal tax paid on Rented commercial office. In the month of Jan.2012, we had paid Mnicipal Tax and claim in Oct to March Return but we had paid full Service Tax, now we have to Adjust in April to Sept half yearly return then what will be entry pass in Books for Claiming Abatement as on 31/03/2012

Sir, Accounting Entry as on 31/03/2012 as under :

Service Tax a/c -Dr
To Municipal Tax - Cr.

if not then please explain actual entry to be pass for abatement.

21 August 2012 Make a provision for abatement in the books of accounts as on 31.03.2012. (Since you have paid excess service tax)Now this year you can claim the abatement, by utilising this provision.
