Message: Hello experts, I am planning to take voluntary GST registration for my online business (dropshipping + blogging). I currently do not have a separate business premises, so I’m considering using my father’s residential address (with his consent) for the registration.
However, I have a doubt: Will taking GST registration on my father’s address affect any government subsidy or benefit (like PM Kisan, Ujjwala, etc.) that my father is currently receiving or may apply for in the future?
Also, would a consent letter or rent agreement (with ₹0 rent) be sufficient to prove address usage if required by GST authorities?
Kindly help me understand any legal or tax-related implications in this situation.

1. Taking GST registration at your father’s residential address (with his consent) should not directly affect his existing government subsidies like PM Kisan, Ujjwala, etc., as these schemes are generally based on individual eligibility 2. A consent letter from your father is advisable. A rent agreement can be used, but GST authorities may ask for additional proof if they suspect evasion. An affidavit stating the address usage can be helpful. Your father’s Aadhaar/utility bill as address proof.
