a works contractor of rajasthan is performing different contracts in differnt states. Whether he is required to register under VAT in each state.

Mr Author, It depends on where he buys the required material. In each state if the goods to be transferred are purchssed,then he has to register in everywhere.Or if the contractors are such that all required material are to be carried from Rajastan only, then registration is enough at home state.Without registration in each state problems arise while carrying necessary tools,machineries,material for making sheds/office at sites,taking vehicles/crane/tipper etc to site and shifting back the leftout scrap etc at checkposts/squads.... So, think of all this.....MJK
