The employer has bought uniform for their employees. This expenses which category should be accounted.
It is Australian based company bookkeeping maintained by Xero accounting software. It is pertains to office expenses or Staff Amenities and include GST or not?

21 March 2017 I think it should be under Staff amenities. The expense should be booked including all taxes therein.

03 August 2025 If your accounting software doesn’t have a specific head for **donations or charitable expenses**, here’s what you can do:

### Best Practice:

* Create a **new expense ledger/account** named something like:

* **“Donations”**
* **“Charitable Contributions”**
* **“Charity Expenses”**

If the software does not allow creating new heads:

* Use a general **“Miscellaneous Expenses”** or **“Other Expenses”** account temporarily.
* But try to keep donations separate if possible for reporting and tax purposes.
