17 February 2014 i want to file audited ereturn of A.Y.2013-14 AND this is audit case in which digital sign manadatry but i read this time class2 dsc applicable. before this we apload return through pfx file. so which type of dsc we file ereturn of A.Y.2013-14

17 February 2014 You can file either by PFX file or with the DSC Token.

Whether you sign by PFX or DSC Token, it will be Class 2 DSC

17 February 2014 but i read somewhere that for efile dsc with token is applicable from dec2013

03 August 2025 For filing the audited e-return for AY 2013-14, here’s the clarity on DSC (Digital Signature Certificate):

Class 2 DSC is mandatory for filing tax returns, including audit reports.

Earlier, many used the PFX file format (software-based DSC), but from December 2013 onwards, the Income Tax Department mandated DSC on hardware tokens (i.e., USB token-based DSC) for certain filings, especially audit reports and other specified forms.

So for AY 2013-14 audit case filing, you should ideally use a Class 2 DSC issued on a hardware token (USB token), as per the latest ITD requirements effective from December 2013.

However, some forms might still accept PFX but it's safer and recommended to use DSC on a token to avoid rejection.

If you already have a Class 2 DSC in PFX format, check if the portal allows uploading it; else, get a USB token-based DSC issued by a licensed Certifying Authority.
