I had filled final ca exam form in Nov 15 and May 16, but didnt appear for the same. Now im appearing for May 2017, will this be counted as my first attempt?

Yes, it would be your first attempt, as you have not appeared in the past exams even though you had applied for the exams.

But how will the institute know whether I've appeared for the papers or not. They'd just look at the exam forms application and decide on the attempt?

Dear Dipti, appearance or non appearance, if you have filled the exam form, it will be counted as an attempt. You can still call your Regional Office and confirm.

01. In the examination form, the details of your previous attempts are to be filled up.
02. If it is for rank, it is NOT attempt driven
03. If it is for service, any interviewer of ordinary prudence can calculate the first 'attempt due' from your articleship dates.

Oh alright. So while filling up the exam form for May 17, do i have to ignore the details asked for the previous exams?
