Where to deposit tax of a.y.2013-14 by cheque

21 October 2013 I have to file ITR-1 for one of my client.She is to pay tax of Rs.5580 including interest but she doesnt maintaing net banking system.How to pay this tax means i know challan 280 is to be filled but if cheque is to be deposited in whose name it is to be issued and whether in SBI can be deposited?

21 October 2013 You can make the payment in any of the
designated Banks .The cheque has to be made
payable to " The Bank ( Eg .Bank of Baroda) - A /c
Income- tax " and should be submitted
alongwith Challan 280. If you do not have an A /
c with the Bank where you submit the
payment , then the stamped challan counterfoil
would be returned to you after the clearance of
the cheque .

21 October 2013 she has an account in SBI so she is supposed issue cheque in favour of 'State Bank of India A/c Income Tax'....am i right????and whether the counterfoil would be given at that time or after 3 days????

21 October 2013 Yes u r right. You will not The counterfoil instant. It may take 1 or 2 days. You can ask to the bank also.

21 October 2013 someone has said to me that i have to write 'yourself income tax' on the cheque

21 October 2013 Just go to bank with blank cheque. Ask them and write it.
