What should be the date of purchase of land&building

04 September 2012 I purchase a plot under construction on 05/12/2004 but the same not registered in my name and no possession letter is received by me and I want to sold this plot. So, I want to know that what should be the date of purchase of the said plot for calculation of capital gain.

04 September 2012 "plot under construction" is eyebrow raiser. Was it a contract for "developed plot"? The agreement if any should throw more light on the issue.
