03 August 2025 For Maharashtra VAT, the time limit to revise a VAT return for a financial year (FY) is generally:
Within 12 months from the end of the relevant VAT period (i.e., the month or quarter for which the return was filed), or
Sometimes, up to the end of the assessment year for that FY.
But practically for FY 2012-13 returns, the revision period would have mostly expired by end of FY 2013-14 or latest by the assessment year 2013-14.
To confirm:
For FY 2012-13 (April 2012 to March 2013), last date to revise return was usually by March 31, 2014 or the date of assessment for that year.
Since it’s now 2013 December (in your query), you may still be able to revise returns for the early months, but check with the Maharashtra VAT department or portal for exact cut-off.
If revision is not possible now, you may have to:
Disclose corrections in subsequent returns,
Or file an application/representation to the department seeking permission for revision.
