Vat charges in resturant

I have a doubt in my Mind. IN IPCC i had studied that Vat is not charged against basic necessary goods. My doubt is when we order any basic necessary goods in hotel can they charge vat on it??

Yes they can charge VAT only if they are register with Sales Tax Department
