You need to have a knowledge for local VAT laws of the state along with notifications and circulars issued by the state. apart from these things, you should have a knowledge for audit,which you must be having. You should compare books of accounts with monthly VAT returns filed. You should go through all the statutory forms issued/in hand with the assessee and any notice/visit by departmental person during the year.
