is service tax is also applicable on detation charges

26 December 2009 There are no certain views till date.But if the transporation charge is under the net of Service Tax there is no doubt that detention charge will also be under the same net.Hence taxable [transportation ch + detention ch] S.Tax @25% on 10.30%.If taken the benefit of 75% exemption.

26 December 2009 There is not much diffrence in detention charges or freight. The detention charges can not be excluded from freight charges for the discharge of service tax liability.
