If not why?

What about printing & stationery , postage and telegram expenses?

23 November 2011 Cost of production is an important ingredients for valuation of finished goods. But in case of inventories only those costs are included which are incurred to carry on inventory to its current position.other expenses as mentioned by you is overhead and allocated on all applicable departments. These are not included while valuing inventories.
