TODAY MORNING I TRIED TO UPLOAD RETURNS WITH DSC ITR 4 I LGOGIN TO INCOME TAX WEB AND FILLED ALL DEATAILS WHEN I CLICKED SIGN WITH PFX FILE ON THE SCREE OF WEB CANNOT READ FILE SIGNING ITR 4. WHETHER I SHOULD UPADATE JAVA VERSION PLEASE ADVISE ME IN THIS REGARD

Yes,,you need to update java version to resolve this..
better try with other browser even there you cannot able to sign just update the java and try again

which version is compatable to mozilla firefox version 23 or internet explorer vrsion 8.0

Use Interent Explorer or Google Chrome after updating Java. If problem persist then contact help desk.
