HE THE PERSON WHO GIVES THE GUARENTEE TO THE COMPANY DURING PUBLIC ISSUE FOR SUBSCRIBING THE BALANCE SHARES WHEN SUBSCRIPTION IS NOT FULFILLED AS PER COMPANIESA ACT(I.e.,90% of the issued shud be subscribed by the public). say an example....if a comapny went for IPO...for 100000 shares. 90% shd be subscribed.that is 90000 shares. if public has subscribed for 80000 shares then balance wil be subscribed by the underwriters who given gurantee for subscribing shares when IPO is under subscribed
