Sir , Would like to know if appearing for CISA exam while pursuing articles in CA course requires permission under CA REGULATIONS 1988
02 August 2025
Hereโs the clarification on **CISA** in relation to CA Regulations, 1988:
* **CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor)** is an **international certification** offered by **ISACA** โ it is considered a **professional course/certification**, not a membership under ICAI or related CA regulations.
* **CA Regulations, 1988** (No. 65 & 78) pertain specifically to ICAI members and their permissions related to courses, memberships, and professional conduct.
* Since CISA is **not governed or conducted by ICAI**, it is treated as a **separate professional qualification/course** and **does NOT require permission from ICAI** to appear for the CISA exam during your CA articleship or CA course.
* However, if a CA student wishes to pursue **DISA (Diploma in Information Systems Audit)**, which is an ICAI-certified course, then ICAI rules apply, and permission may be required.
---
**Summary:**
* CISA = International certification, course, no ICAI permission needed.
* DISA = ICAI post-qualification course, permission needed if required by ICAI.
