One of my friend has filed return till A/Y 2007-08, now can he file return for A/Y 2008-09 i.e financial period 01.04.2007 to 31.03.2008, 01.04.2008 to 31.03.2009 & 01.04.2009 to 31.03.2010. If yes please provide me relevant section & if no, than penal provision of the same.

Income tax return for the asst.year 2008-09 can't be filed voluntarily since barred by time. Subsequent two years can be filed.

yes,, you can file F.Y. 08-09 & 09-10 returns.but listen firl F.Y. 08-09 return bf 31st March'2011 afterthat you can't file it.so hurry up.

Just learn this funda at a moment u can submit return of two financial year like as on now u can file for A.Y. 2009-10 AND 2010-11.
