Tds return status processed with default

23 July 2013 The status of T.D.S. return for the 4th quarter F.y. 12 - 13 is shown as "Processed with Defaults" in tdscpc website even though I have deposited tax on time, deducted correct amount of T.D.S. and at correct rate and also deducted tax on the right time. I also checked the return filed by me and found no corrections. Also, I have requested for justification report yesterday but it has not been made available till today. I had deducted T.D.S. u/s 194I(a). Can it be the cause of default since there was no way to define it in T.D.S. Return

23 July 2013 It may be the demand letter for late filling of return.

I have received similar email from department with same status on registered mobile no as well as in email. If you received the email, there should be an attachment. In my case it was demand letter for late filling.

23 July 2013 By default- the assessee has to suffer with the complications created by TRACES.

The defaults are mechanically generated.
.
Thankfully, department officers can understand the matter and may appreciate the problems.
.
But now, they are also dependent on the TDS CPC or other websites.
.
So, there can be any cause for the default. irrespective of the reasons.
.
In other words, what can not be suitably programmed is termed as " Default".
.
Do not you think that the word " Default" is heavier for such small mistakes.
