03 June 2010 In its Press Release No 402/92/2006-MC dt 2nd Jun 10 the CBDT has, inter alia, modified the due date for furnishing TDS return for the last quarter of the FY to 15th May (from earlier 15th Jun).

Please advise whether any corresponding change has been made for the present two months’ limit for depositing TDS from amount credited to the payees’ accounts on the last day of the accounting year u/s 194C

03 June 2010 Not yet. However the amended rules will apply only in respect of tax deducted on or after 1st day of April 2010 meaning thereby that the pre amended rule will apply for financial year 2009-10.
