05 May 2009 THE TDS DEDUCTED FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL,09 IS TO BE DESPOSITED THROUGH NEW TDS FORM 17.HOWEVER, THE NSDL SITE HAS STILL NOT UPDATED BY INCORPORATING THIS NEW FORM.I ASK THROUGH TELEPHONE WITH NSDL FACILITATION CENTRE REPLIED THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY OFFICIAL INFORMATION FOR THAT FORM 17 AND THEY ALSO TELL CONTACT YOUR LOCAL INCOME TAX OFFICE FOR FURTHUR CLARIFICATION.BUT CHENNAI INCOME TAX OFFICE ALSO NOT GIVE ANY POSSITIVE INFORMATION FOR THAT. IN THAT SITUATION WHAT WE DO.WE HAVE ONLY 2 DAYS FOR MAKE TDS PAYMENT.IF WE WILL MAKE TDS PAYMENT IN CHALLAN 281 FOR APR 09 IT'S VALUABLE PAYMENT OR NOT.

05 May 2009 In my view we have to wait till the further clarification come from the income tax department.

05 May 2009 As discussed with Mr Girish Ahuja ji (A well known tax consultants), a detailed circular for TDS is yet to come which will give us the detail procedures about new TDS provisions, but this is for sure that TDS deposited on Challan 281 shall not be treated as valid deposit. As per him, it is quite possible that Govt may allow some time for deposit of TDS on April as IT officials are busy in election due to which there has been a delay in that detailed circular. Better is to wait and watch the situation
