26 October 2009 DEAR READER,

IS TDS IS APPLICABLE FOR TRANSPORTERS,
I HAD READ THAT IF THEY FURNISH PAN THEN IT IS NOT APPLICABLE BUT IF THEY FURNISH IT IS.

MY DOUBT IS WHETHER THEY HAVE TO FURNISH PAN TO DEDUCTOR OR A.O. OR ANYONE ELSE, IF IT IS TO THE DEDUCTOR THEN WHAT IS THE DUTY OF DEDUCTOR AFTERWARDS.

26 October 2009 Pan to be quoted in Bill its only for dedctor records.nothing more.

26 October 2009 TDS is not applicable in case of Goods Transport. Further TDS will not apply only when Transporter has PAN.

They have to furnish PAN to Deductor but not to A.O.

The deductor has to furnish these details to IT Department in prescribed format which is yet to be specified by department.
