27 May 2022 Dear Sir/Mam, we need to make a payment to a Government Company (A Govt of Tamil Nadu undertaking) - Payment is for allotment of land/plot.

Please confirm whether we need to deduct TDS.

Also, please provide law reference as base.

Sir, I have a doubt - why it is not considered as Govt Company to exempt TDS.

28 May 2022 TDS applicable on government companies.
Only government/government department is exempt from TDS
Refer section 196 of income tax act.
