Got it! You received a **notice for interest under Section 201(1)** (interest on late deduction of TDS), and you want to pay that interest amount of Rs. 340 to the department but are stuck on how to do it.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to pay interest on late TDS deduction:
---
### Step 1: Understand the type of payment
* **TDS amount already paid** — You have paid this. * **Interest on late deduction (Section 201(1)(a))** — This is the Rs. 340 you owe. * **Interest on late deposit (Section 201(1)(b))** — Sometimes applicable if late deposit after deduction.
---
### Step 2: Deposit interest demand on TIN-NSDL portal
* Visit [TIN-NSDL website](https://www.tin-nsdl.com/). * Go to **‘E-Payment’** → **‘Challan for TDS/TCS Payment’ (Form 26QB)**. * Select the option: **‘Demand Raised by Department’** or **‘Interest/Other Amount Payment’**. * Enter your **TAN** and other details. * Enter the **demand amount** (Rs. 340). * The system will generate an **Acknowledgment Number (challan number)** after submission.
---
### Step 3: Payment modes
* After submitting the details, you get the challan and can select the **payment mode**. * Usually, **online payment by Netbanking/Debit card** is available. * If you don’t have online banking or that option is not available, check if the portal offers **‘Generate Challan’** to pay at authorized bank branches.
---
### Step 4: If no offline option is visible
* Sometimes, for demands raised by department, payment is only accepted online. * You may need to arrange online banking with your bank or pay via an authorized e-payment facility. * Alternatively, contact your bank’s help desk or TIN-NSDL helpline for offline payment procedure.
---
### Step 5: After payment
* Save the **Acknowledgment Receipt**. * Inform the department or check the status of your demand on the TIN-NSDL website. * If you have an online account on TRACES, you can check your TDS demand and payment status there.
---
### Additional tips:
* The **Acknowledgment Number** mentioned in the notice refers to this challan number generated during the payment. * Make sure you select the correct **‘Reason for Payment’** as **Demand Raised by Department** or similar. * Keep proof of payment handy for future reference.
