26 August 2016 hi. i got new tan number of my client. i want ragister in traces as deducter. but by mistack i have ragisterd as a tax payer. so please guide me what can i do. thank you.

No worries—this is a common mistake. Here's how you can **resolve the issue** if you've accidentally registered on TRACES as a **taxpayer** instead of as a **deductor** (for TDS filing purposes):

#### 🔹 1. **You cannot convert a taxpayer account to a deductor account.**

You will need to **register again** on TRACES under the **"Deductor"** category using your client's **correct TAN**.

### ✅ **Steps to Register as Deductor on TRACES:**

1. **Visit TRACES website**:
[https://www.tdscpc.gov.in](https://www.tdscpc.gov.in)

2. Click on **"Register as New User"**.

3. Select **"Deductor"**.

4. Provide details:

* TAN of the deductor
* Form type (like 24Q, 26Q etc.)
* Token number (PRN) of a previous valid TDS return (if available)
* PAN of the deductor
* Organization type
* Contact details (email, mobile)
* Create your User ID and password

5. Submit and activate through the link/code sent to email/mobile.
