No worries—this is a common mistake. Here's how you can **resolve the issue** if you've accidentally registered on TRACES as a **taxpayer** instead of as a **deductor** (for TDS filing purposes):
---
### ✅ **Step-by-Step Solution: Registering Correctly on TRACES as Deductor**
#### 🔹 1. **You cannot convert a taxpayer account to a deductor account.**
You will need to **register again** on TRACES under the **"Deductor"** category using your client's **correct TAN**.
---
### ✅ **Steps to Register as Deductor on TRACES:**
* TAN of the deductor * Form type (like 24Q, 26Q etc.) * Token number (PRN) of a previous valid TDS return (if available) * PAN of the deductor * Organization type * Contact details (email, mobile) * Create your User ID and password
5. Submit and activate through the link/code sent to email/mobile.
---
### ❌ Already Registered as Taxpayer? What to Do?
* If you mistakenly registered TAN under **Taxpayer**, that registration **won’t be valid** for TDS filing. * Just **ignore** that login (or use it only if needed for viewing 26AS etc.). * **Register again as Deductor**—that’s the correct and required account type for TDS compliance.

Let me know if you want help filling the registration form or if you don't have a token number from a previously filed return (there's a workaround).
