Tds deduction @ 20% by bank on fdr interest

22 February 2012 Dear Sir,

Axis bank had deducted TDS @ 20% on interest Income of FDR, giving reason PAN not available.
Bank has never ask for PAN or for form 15G.

Problem is How to get TDS back as persons taxable income is below the level i.e. 1.8 lac

Axis bank has issued form 16A w/o mentioning PAN. so TDS deduction not appears in 26AS also.

How one can get Refund of TDS. Please reply.

22 February 2012 Submit your PAN to the bank and ask them to revise their quarterly return.The other way out is to file your IT return physically and attach the TDS certificate provided by the bank.

But for the next financial year please ensure you provide them your PAN/Form 15G/15H so that you dont have to go through this trouble again.
