Tax on claims

17 November 2016 My Father passed away in the month of September and now my mother has started getting funds from his office. As my father was on medical leave , now we have received Salary of that duration , Salary of 300 day EL. Also my mother will receive money from my father's GPF account and Insurance claims. Now I don't know anything about tax , Please help me As money in my mother's account will be going up from 1000 to around 20+ Lakhs

17 November 2016 Amount received by nominee i.e.your Mother is not a taxable income.

18 November 2016 one more thing sir , Do I need to report these somewhere like filing or anything?

18 November 2016 You can file father return by registering legal heir by your mother by submitting death certificate in tax Login of deceased , legal heir proof. Once departments approves your mother can file tax return of your father.
