Whether under Direct tax code, practicing cost accountants are eligible to do Tax audit ?

Only Chartered Accounatnts holding Certificate of Practice can take up tax audit assignments.

Cost accountant cannot taking up the tax audit assignemnt. Whereas a practising chartered Accountant can take up the tax auidt assignment

Direct Tax Code is still in the finalisation stage and there may be changes until final approval/implentation in due course.
However, in the menatime, developments show that only CAs shall be considered for audit function even in DTC as well.
