STP but no money paid out, do I need to report STCG

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
If you've made a Systematic Transfer Plan (STP) from a debt fund to an equity fund and realised a capital gain, you must report it as Short Term Capital Gain (STCG). This is true even if no money was physically withdrawn from your account, as the conversion itself is considered a realisation of gains and may incur tax obligations.

30 July 2022 I had started an STP from debt mutual fund To transfer some units from it to equity mutual fund. my account is showing capital gain of 10,000 rs but no money was paid out as I did not redeem any unit of any mutual fund. Do I need to report it as short term capital gain

31 July 2022 Yes such capital gains has to be reported.

31 July 2022 Do I need to pay tax on it as well , even if no money was paid out to me?

31 July 2022 Yes, as conversion you realise the money and invested in other instrument.
